Your applications
An offer I wanted to apply for has disappeared, what can I do ?
In general, when an offer is no longer published, it is quite possible that the company has filled the position.
But this is not always the case! But this is not always the case! The company may still be in the process of filling the position but have received enough applications.
If it is a position and a company that you are particularly interested in, you can contact the hiring manager or someone in the human resources department and let them know you are interested. They may have a similar position for you, or even offer you a chance to be part of the recruitment process for the original position if your profile is particularly relevant. But don't waste any time.
I can't find the job offer I applied for, what should I do?
If you applied on a job board, go give a look to the company's career website so check if the offer might still be there.
If you have been accepted to the job interview, you can always ask the recruteur if they could share the offer again but it could make you seem less professional.
Another option is to go and check other offers for the same position at competitors. It will give you a good idea of what the missions are and help you prepare your interview.
Linkedin and professional networks
I don't have a social network and I don't want to have one. Is this a problem for my job search?
Generally speaking, professional social networks facilitate job searches because they amplify an existing professional network. The important thing for your job search is to work on your network, not necessarily the one you build online.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a job in communication, your absence from professional social networks could be a problem.
Is there a day of the week and a recommended time to post and increase your visibility?
The future belongs to those who get up early! It's a good idea to post before 9am on weekdays and before 11am on weekends to boost the visibility of your posts.
Do hashtags have a real impact in a post?
Hashtags are used to categorize content, which allows users to easily find and follow related topics. Ideally, you should use a limited number of hashtags (3 is ideal) that are related to your content.
What should I if I applied to a job offer on Linkedin but didn't hear back?
If you particularly care about the offer, don't hesitate to add the person in charge of recruitment on Linkedin and send him/her a message to get a feedback.
You can take advantage of this opportunity to show your interest by explaining why this company makes sense for you.
Interview time
How to respond to a job interview invitation?
Send some availabilities or respond to the availabilities that have been offered to you. Ideally, leave one or two days before the interview to prepare yourself and to be able to answer the interview questions in a convincing and informed way.
I had the recruiter on the phone who told me that the manager was going to contact me several days ago but I still haven't been contacted, what should I do?
Don't hesitate to call him back!
Make sure you take note of the names of the recruiters who contact you, and write down their numbers as soon as the call is over.
How do I answer trick questions in an interview?
Trick questions are a way to assess both your reactivity and soft skills, and to understand your thought process. There is no right or wrong answer, but it is important that you understand what you are conveying through your answer.
For example, if the recruiter asks you the following question: If you were an animal, which one would you be?
You should answer:
What animal? / Why this animal? / What concrete example can you use to illustrate this choice?
You can answer:
"Probably a chameleon because I know how to adapt to changing situations. During our last team work, we had to use a no-code tool to do the development and I was able to learn how to use it in record time!"
Don't hesitate to add a little humor in your answers to this type of question if you have a good feeling with the recruiter or manager in front of you; these questions are an opportunity to show your personality!
Following-up and answering a job offer
How do I answer a positive job offer when I still have other recruitment processes in progress?
If you have not been accepted on another offer, it would be a shame to close the door to a positive offer. But it's also best to avoid putting yourself in a complicated situation or being blacklisted from a company you initially said yes to and then turned down, if you think you might want to work there in the future.
There are several options available to you:
- I accept the position and discontinue the other processes;
- I accept the position and continue the other processes without informing the company;
- I ask for time to think about it;
- I let the other companies I was in process with know that I have a positive response elsewhere;
- I decline the position;
In general, we encourage you to be transparent and explain your reasons for wanting to continue the processes with other companies. T
These reasons may be related to salary, assignment, company specialization, industry, etc.
Timing will also impact your options.
How do you give a negative response to a recruiter?
It is important to explain the reasons for your negative response.
You are having doubts about your career, you don't feel aligned with your company's mission and values, or you can't realize your potential in your current job?
